In Yavatmal district of India there has been a rampant increase of cotton farmer suicides due to failed crops and rising debts. Kapas (cotton) is a long term project that has been published by Global Grounds Media and supported by Government of Maharashtra that hopes to highlight the plight of the cotton farmer community.
The Baiga tribe is an aboriginal forest tribe that has recently been relocated to the outskirts of the Kanha National Park. Through this long term project started in 2014, I am documenting the Baiga community as they trade their traditional wisdom from motherland for education, modernisation and urbanisation.
This work on the Buddhist monks in the city of Darjeeling India has been made into a photobook. It documents the youth, adolescence and ageing of monks in Buddhist monasteries. It also explores the customs and practices of Buddhism as a religion.
Exhibited in London, this project is a visual anthropological study of the Parsi community of India. Using the methods of archiving, this body of work draws attention to the communities current problems and their roots.
